Web3 is a hot (and complex) topic within the music industry creating the need for artist teams to acquire new knowledge and skills to navigate this space.

This Web3 Ecosystem course aims to provide music industry professionals with the basic web3 understanding needed to identify opportunity areas for their artists and businesses. You will learn about the differences between web 1.0, web 2.0 and web3 and what web3 can offer to music. Besides explaining key terminology and the basics of blockchain technology, we discuss NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), DAOs (Decentralised Autonomous Organisations), social tokens, the metaverse and web3 music services – showcasing examples from within the music industry and presenting challenges and opportunities.
 
This course aims to deliver a balanced overview of the space, mentioning both criticism and optimistic visions of web3. By the end of this course, you will feel comfortable talking about what web3 is, why its core use cases could be interesting for you, and you will know how to explore your areas of interest further.

Marlen

Marlen is the Head of Marketing & Audience at Music Ally, where she leads on the development and execution of marketing strategy and marketing innovation services for artists and their teams. She’s helped artists across a range of genres, territories and audience sizes to fine-tune their digital strategy, build their fan community, and execute creative digital campaigns. Marlen started her career in the music industry working for Universal Music Group & Brands in Germany and Switzerland, before obtaining a Masters in Music Business Management at the University of Westminster in London. She’s a passionate fan of pop music and loves an empowering pop anthem.
